Heartland Parishes LOGO...

The Greek cross is inscribed in a circular blue field which symbolizes the universe and the need for solidarity. The cross sustains and upholds humanity gathered in the continents represented by the five doves.

The cross is the same colors as the doves signifying the Incarnation whereby God enters into human history and redeems it. The light which comes from the center of the design represents Christ who is the light of the world. The colors of the logo remind us that joy and peace are an integral part of our Catholic Faith...

Stewardship Article...

I’m a candidate of the first deacon formation class for the Diocese of Salina.  In the fall, we take our last course. Then, we participate in a week long discernment retreat.  Presuming no one gets cold feet and the bishop, in fact, calls us to this ministry, we will be ordained on January 3, 2009.

Including an initial year of discernment, the whole process will have taken over four years.  We will join the ranks of 17,000 deacons in the United States.  That’s about half of the total population of Catholic deacons in the world.  Our diocese got a late start.  Recently, I read that the Diocese of Savannah, Georgia, and Indianapolis, Indiana, just ordained classes much larger than our seven men.

Pope Benedict's Intentions for July, 2008

VATICAN CITY, 1 JUL 2008 (VIS) - Pope Benedict's general prayer intention for July is: "That there may be an increase in the number of those who, as volunteers, offer their services to the Christian community with generous and prompt availability".

His mission intention is: "That the World Youth Day held in Sydney, Australia, may awaken the fire of divine love in young people and make them sowers of hope for a new humanity".
